ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a medication called semaglutide affects a special type of fat in the body known as brown adipose tissue (BAT), which helps burn calories and generate heat. The researchers want to see if taking semaglutide can increase the activity of BAT and boost the body's metabolism, which may help with weight loss in people who are obese. The trial will involve taking pictures of BAT activity using an infrared camera at different times during the treatment.
To participate in this trial, you need to be over 18 years old and planning to start semaglutide for weight loss. Both men and post-menopausal women can join, but certain health conditions may exclude you, such as having had neck surgery or currently being on certain medications that affect blood sugar. If you enroll, you can expect to have your BAT activity monitored before starting the medication and again at specific points during your treatment. Importantly, the trial does not cover the cost of the semaglutide medication itself.
