ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of two different types of stitches, called sutures, for closing wounds after surgery for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can cause pain and numbness in the hands, and surgery is often the best way to relieve these symptoms. One of the concerns after surgery is the risk of getting an infection in the wound, which happens in about 1.8% of patients. This study aims to find out if using absorbable sutures, which dissolve over time, leads to fewer infections compared to non-absorbable sutures, which stay in the body until they are removed.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have been recommended for carpal tunnel surgery. However, if you have already had surgery or received corticosteroid injections for your condition, you won’t be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to receive either type of suture during your surgery, and researchers will monitor your recovery to see if there are any differences in infection rates. This trial is currently recruiting participants, so it's a great opportunity to contribute to our understanding of post-surgery care for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
