Study of Microbiological Diversity in Exhaled Air in COPD and Free of COPD

This clinical trial is examining the differences in the microorganisms found in the breath of people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and those without the condition. Researchers want to understand how these microorganisms vary between the two groups, which could help improve our understanding of COPD and its effects on health. The trial is currently looking for participants, and those interested can join if they are either over 18 years old and have COPD or are between 18-30 years old or 45-70 years old and do not have COPD.

Participants will be asked to provide breath samples for analysis. There will be two collections of breath samples, one now and another about a year later, during the fall and winter months. It’s important to note that certain people, such as those on specific medications recently or those with certain health conditions, won't be eligible to participate. Eligibility criteria

• Inclusion Criteria:
• For COPD:
• • Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• • Age: over 18
• • For non-COPD
• • Absence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
• • Age: between 18 and 30 years old and between 45 and 70 years old
• Exclusion Criteria:
• • Taking certain medications in the month preceding the sample (antibiotics, systemic corticosteroids, immunosuppressants)
• • Person under guardianship or curatorship
• • Pregnant or breastfeeding women
• • Person unable to express his/her opposition, person deprived of liberty
• • Existence of a chronic infectious pulmonary pathology such as (dilation of the bronchi, cystic fibrosis)
