ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is designed to study how different anesthesia techniques affect patients undergoing shoulder surgery, specifically looking at the heart and brain's functioning during the procedure. Researchers want to compare two approaches: one where patients receive sedation with a nerve block (interscalene block) and another where they receive general anesthesia along with the same nerve block. The goal is to see how these techniques impact heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and brain oxygenation, especially since patients are typically positioned in a way that can affect their blood circulation.
To be eligible for the study, participants must be planning to have minimally invasive shoulder surgery while seated in a beach chair position. However, those with certain conditions, such as serious blood disorders, infections, or a history of specific medical issues, will not be included. Participants can expect to have their heart and brain activity closely monitored during the surgery and may experience different anesthesia techniques depending on which group they are assigned to. The study aims to improve the safety and effectiveness of anesthesia for shoulder surgeries, ultimately helping to enhance recovery for patients.
