ClinConnect Summary
The ATHENA Project is a clinical trial aimed at helping young African American adults manage their asthma better using technology. The study is testing a new mobile health program that includes several tools: a mobile app to track asthma, video meetings with an asthma nurse, text messages for reminders and support, and a way to track physical activity. Participants will be randomly assigned to use one or more of these tools to see which combination works best for them.
To join the study, participants need to be African American, between 18 and 30 years old, and have asthma that is not well-controlled. This means their asthma symptoms are affecting their daily life. They also need to have a cell phone and a primary care doctor. Unfortunately, people with certain serious lung diseases, a history of heavy smoking, or those who are pregnant cannot participate. If you join the study, you can expect to receive support and resources to help you take control of your asthma using the latest technology.
