ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the F20 Project, is focused on developing and validating new equations to better assess body composition, specifically fat mass and fat-free mass, in the Colombian population. The main tool used for this assessment is the measurement of waist circumference (WC), which is a quick and easy way to evaluate body fat. The researchers aim to create simple methods that can work for people with different activity levels, from sedentary individuals to competitive athletes, as there are currently no validated formulas for this purpose in Colombia.
To participate in the trial, you need to be between 18 and 60 years old and live in or near Medellín. Both active individuals and those who don’t exercise regularly are welcome. Participants will need to provide informed consent and attend sessions for body measurements, including a scan called DXA, which helps analyze body composition. However, individuals over 60, pregnant women, and those with certain medical conditions or injuries will not be eligible. This study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to improve how we understand body composition and support better health outcomes in the community.
