ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new wearable device, called the VT-Patch, that can monitor vital signs like heart rate and oxygen levels in children who are in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) or have just left it. The goal is to see if this device can help doctors identify children who might need to return to the PICU, which is important since readmissions can be serious. This trial also aims to address concerns that some existing devices may not work as well for children with darker skin tones, ensuring the technology is effective for everyone.
To be eligible for this trial, children need to be monitored in the PICU for at least 24 hours. However, those who have had recent heart or chest surgery, have certain skin conditions, or whose parents do not give consent cannot participate. If a child is part of the study, they will wear the VT-Patch for monitoring, and the data collected will help improve future care for pediatric patients. This research is crucial to ensure that all children, regardless of their skin color, have access to reliable monitoring devices.
