ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "One Talk at a Time" is studying a program designed to help parents have important conversations about race and ethnicity with their children. This program, called One Talk at a Time (OTAAT), is delivered online through videos and aims to improve how parents communicate about these topics. The researchers believe that by participating in this program, parents will feel more motivated and confident to discuss racial and ethnic issues with their kids. They hope this will help children better cope with experiences of discrimination and improve their mental health and academic performance.
To participate in this study, parents need to have a child aged 11 to 13 and be from specific racial or ethnic backgrounds, such as East Asian, African American, or Latinx (Central American). Both parents should belong to the same ethnic group. If selected, families will engage with the OTAAT program for a year, and their experiences will be compared to those of a control group who will not receive the intervention. This trial is currently looking for families to join and aims to provide valuable insights into how these conversations can positively impact both parents and children.
