ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different methods of placing a tube in the nose to help patients breathe during certain types of surgery, specifically dental or maxillofacial procedures. The researchers want to find out if a new technique called the cuff inflation-deflation method is quicker and has fewer side effects compared to the traditional method that uses a tool called Magill forceps. They are particularly interested in whether this new method takes less time and causes less damage to the throat or surrounding tissues.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be adults who are generally healthy (rated as ASA physical status I-III) and scheduled for elective surgery that requires nasal intubation. However, those with blood clotting issues, certain airway problems, or who may face risks during the procedure will not be included. Participants in this trial can expect to be randomly assigned to one of the two methods and monitored for the time it takes to complete the intubation and any potential side effects. The trial is currently recruiting patients of all genders aged 18 and older.
