ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to help people recover from a stroke, specifically focusing on combining mirror therapy and augmented reality (AR) to improve rehabilitation. Mirror therapy involves using a mirror to create the illusion that the affected arm is moving normally, which can help with recovery. Augmented reality will add a fun, interactive element to the exercises, providing real-time feedback to keep patients engaged. The trial is looking at how these treatments work in both clinic settings and at home, making use of telehealth techniques to support patients who are doing their exercises at home.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be between 20 and 80 years old and have had a first-ever stroke at least three months ago. They should be able to follow instructions and stand for at least 30 seconds, as well as walk a minimum of 10 meters. Participants will engage in a rehabilitation program for nine weeks, during which they will receive guidance and support from therapists. This trial is important because it aims to explore innovative therapy options for stroke recovery, especially in light of the ongoing need for accessible treatments during the COVID-19 pandemic.
