ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Sleepless at Scripps," is studying how white noise can help improve sleep for patients in the hospital. Many patients find it hard to sleep due to noise from the hospital environment, which can interrupt their rest and healing. In this study, researchers are looking to see if playing white noise at a specific volume during the night can help patients sleep longer and more peacefully. They will have 45 adults aged 65 and older participate, with each person experiencing two different types of white noise on separate nights: one that is louder and one that is softer.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old and admitted to the hospital for at least three nights. During the study, they will wear a device to track their sleep and answer questions about their sleep quality. The researchers will also measure noise levels in the room and check patients' blood sugar and blood pressure in the morning. This study is important because it may help improve sleep for hospitalized patients, which can lead to better recovery outcomes.
