ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how type 1 diabetes (T1D) affects the mental health of adolescents aged 10 to 19. Type 1 diabetes is a condition where the body doesn’t make insulin, which is necessary to control blood sugar levels. Managing this condition can be especially challenging during teenage years, leading to difficulties in sticking to treatment and an increased risk of mental health issues. The researchers want to understand the connection between diabetes management and the psychological well-being of young people, as poor control of blood sugar can impact their quality of life.
To participate in the study, young individuals must be between 10 and 19 years old and have been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes for at least one year. Both boys and girls are welcome, but participants must have parents or caregivers who agree to be involved. Those with certain conditions, like a low intelligence quotient, a history of substance use, or other serious medical issues, cannot take part. The trial has not started recruiting participants yet, but once it does, those involved can expect to help researchers learn more about the challenges faced by teens with diabetes, which could lead to better support and treatment options in the future.
