ClinConnect Summary
The NuRISH trial is a study designed to help prevent obesity in young children from low-income families. It will look at two main things: first, whether providing support for breastfeeding through a mobile lactation consultant is better than the usual care; and second, whether starting high-quality childcare for children as young as one year old can make a difference. The goal is to see if these approaches can help improve children's health, development, and mental well-being by the time they reach 2 years old.
To be eligible for this study, children must be healthy according to what their parents report and should be born no earlier than 32 weeks of pregnancy. The study is for first-time parents with children who are between 0 to 1 week old. Participants can expect to receive guidance and support in breastfeeding and childcare, which could lead to better health outcomes for their children. It’s important to note that children with certain genetic conditions related to obesity or developmental delays will not be included in this trial.
