Ventricular Tachycardia Ablation

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called "Ventricular Tachycardia Mechanisms," aims to understand why some people experience a fast heartbeat known as ventricular tachycardia (VT). Researchers want to investigate the electrical activity in heart tissue to figure out which areas might cause these irregular heartbeats. By learning more about these mechanisms, the hope is to improve treatments for patients undergoing procedures to fix VT, known as ablations.

To participate in this study, individuals need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and have a specific heart condition called ischemic cardiomyopathy, along with an implanted device called a cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) that helps manage heart rhythms. However, those with different types of heart conditions or certain health issues that could complicate the study will not be eligible. Participants can expect to undergo tests that will help researchers gather important information about their heart's electrical properties. This research is currently open for recruitment, and anyone interested should talk to their doctor for more details.
