ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a method called Motivational Interviewing (MI) to see if it helps people get more engaged in addiction treatment. The study compares MI, which is a supportive way to talk with patients about their treatment goals, to the usual way of intake. The goal is to understand how well MI works for adults who are seeking help for substance use, such as alcohol or drugs, at outpatient treatment programs. Additionally, the researchers want to gather feedback from the staff at these programs about how easy it is to include MI in their regular practices.
To participate, you need to be an English-speaking adult who is looking for treatment for alcohol or drug use and can provide written consent. You should also be physically stable and not experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. If you’re a staff member at one of the treatment programs, you can also join the study, provided you’re not in a leadership role. Participants will receive care as part of the study, and staff will share their thoughts on how well MI fits into their routine after the trial. This study is currently recruiting, and anyone eligible is encouraged to consider participating.
