ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how iron supplementation can help elderly patients who have suffered hip fractures and have low iron levels or anemia. Researchers want to see if giving intravenous iron during and after surgery can improve these patients' ability to move around and their overall quality of life. They will compare two groups: one that receives the iron treatment and one that follows the traditional care method without iron. The study will look at various outcomes, such as how far patients can walk and their overall health scores, six months after their surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be over 65 years old and have a hip fracture along with iron deficiency or anemia. There are some important health conditions that would exclude you from joining, such as recent heart surgery or other serious health issues. If you qualify, you can expect to receive care that includes either iron supplementation or standard treatment during your recovery. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it aims to provide valuable information about improving recovery for older adults facing hip fractures.
