ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how muscle loss, known as sarcopenia, affects recovery in older patients undergoing surgery for colon cancer. Sarcopenia is common among older adults and can lead to problems like weakness and fatigue, which may increase the risk of complications after surgery. The researchers want to see if combining a special nutritional supplement with physical exercise can help reduce the chances of infection and other post-surgical complications in patients with sarcopenia compared to those without it.
To participate in the study, individuals need to be at least 70 years old, diagnosed with colon adenocarcinoma (a type of colon cancer), and not have any urgent surgery planned. They should also be well enough to follow the study guidelines and sign the consent form. Participants can expect to receive care and support throughout the trial, which aims to improve their recovery and overall health. This study is currently recruiting, and it is important for potential participants to discuss any questions or concerns with their healthcare provider.
