ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help children feel less anxious, afraid, and in pain during a common medical procedure called venous blood sampling, where a blood sample is taken from a vein. The researchers want to see if a multisensory nature-based approach, which may include things like sounds and images of nature, is more effective than standard care in helping children aged 5 to 9 years old and their parents feel better during this experience. The study will also measure how satisfied parents feel with the care their child receives.
To participate in this trial, children must be between 5 and 9 years old, have a long-term illness like diabetes or rheumatism, and have had blood samples taken before. It's important that both the child and parent can understand and speak Finnish. However, children with certain conditions, like severe neurological issues or chronic pain needing strong medication, will not be eligible. If chosen for the trial, participants can expect to be involved in a caring environment aimed at making the blood sampling process easier for both the child and their parent.
