ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the connection between the human microbiome—tiny organisms living in our bodies—and vitamin D in relation to chronic urticaria, which is a condition that causes itchy, raised hives on the skin. The study will include children and young adults under 18 years old, both those who have chronic spontaneous urticaria and healthy children who are siblings of those with the condition. The goal is to understand how these factors might influence the development of urticaria.
If you or someone you know is interested in participating, it’s important to know that children with chronic urticaria and healthy siblings can join the study. However, those who have taken antibiotics, steroids, or other immune-suppressing medications in the past month, or who have certain serious health issues, may not be eligible. Participants can expect to be part of a double-blind study, meaning neither the participants nor the researchers will know who is receiving which treatment during the trial, to ensure unbiased results. This research could help improve understanding and treatment options for chronic urticaria in the future.
