ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial, called "Alcohol Feedback, Reflection and Morning Evaluation," is exploring a new way to help young adults who drink heavily make healthier choices about alcohol. Researchers want to see if providing personalized feedback the morning after drinking—like how much they drank compared to their peers and the effects of their drinking—can encourage them to cut back. The study will involve up to 170 young adults aged 18 to 29 who drink heavily at least once a week and are willing to consider drinking less. Participants will be divided into three groups: one group will receive personalized feedback with the chance to earn rewards for completing surveys, another group will receive the feedback without any rewards, and the third group will only fill out surveys without any feedback.

Eligible participants need to own and regularly use a smartphone and must have experienced some negative consequences from their drinking. Throughout the study, participants will complete surveys and assessments to track their drinking behavior over time. The goal is to see if the personalized feedback helps reduce alcohol consumption and improves overall health. This innovative approach could lead to new ways of addressing high-risk drinking among young adults, which is a significant public health concern.
