ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how different types of exercise can help children and young adults aged 6 to 26 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and those without any developmental disabilities. The study will involve about 50 participants divided into three groups: one group will engage in high-energy whole-body exercises, another group will use special equipment like a sensory glove and armband during their workouts, and the third group will not participate in any exercise during the trial (this is called a waitlist control group). The trial will take place at a pediatric therapy facility called Inclusive Sports and Fitness, Inc.
To participate, individuals need to have a diagnosis of ASD at Level 1 or Level 2, or be neurotypical, meaning they don’t have any developmental disabilities. They also need to be cleared by a doctor to take part in fitness activities. However, those with more severe autism (Level 3), who are nonverbal, or have certain medical conditions, will not be included in the study. This trial is a great opportunity to explore how exercise might benefit children with ASD, and families can expect a supportive environment while contributing to valuable research.
