ClinConnect Summary

The Continuous Glucose Monitoring in Dialysis Patients to Overcome Dysglycemia Trial is a study looking at how continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can help patients with diabetes who are undergoing hemodialysis. The trial aims to find out if using CGM can improve blood sugar control, lower the risk of low blood sugar episodes, and enhance overall quality of life, including reducing feelings of anxiety related to diabetes. Participants will be randomly assigned to either use the CGM or continue with their usual method of checking blood sugar.

To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old, have end-stage kidney disease requiring hemodialysis for at least four weeks, and have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. They should also have been regularly checking their blood sugar levels for at least a month and must be comfortable using the CGM device. Throughout the trial, participants can expect to wear the CGM device and attend regular check-ins to monitor their progress. This study is currently recruiting participants, and it’s a great opportunity for those who want to potentially improve their diabetes management while receiving hemodialysis.
