ClinConnect Summary
The CARES Study is a clinical trial that aims to find out how the timing and type of feeding for newborns who have had intestinal surgery can affect their recovery. Specifically, the researchers want to see if starting feeding earlier and using certain nutrients can help reduce the time these babies spend in the hospital, improve their weight gain, and speed up their ability to eat by mouth and have their first bowel movement.
To participate in this study, newborns aged 1 to 28 days who have undergone intestinal surgery at Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital will be included. However, if a baby is not able to start feeding right away for medical reasons, they won't be part of the trial. This study is still in the planning stages and has not started recruiting participants yet. Families can expect that their baby's health records will be reviewed, and the findings could help improve care for future newborns needing similar surgeries.
