ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a new way to help children in rural Kentucky who may have hearing loss. The study will use a combination of mobile health tools to screen children's hearing at school and telemedicine, which allows doctors to provide care through technology, making it easier for families to get the help they need without traveling far. This approach has already shown success in Alaska, where it helped more children get follow-up care sooner. In this trial, special tests will be used to check for middle ear problems, and schools will help connect children who need extra help with specialists through telemedicine.
To be part of this study, children must be enrolled in elementary school in one of the 14 participating counties in Kentucky. There are no restrictions based on age, gender, race, or ethnicity, so all children in school can participate. Families can expect their children to undergo hearing screenings at school and, if needed, receive referrals to see specialists via telemedicine. This trial aims to ensure that children with hearing issues get the care they need quickly and effectively.
