ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new method to help patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) who are on mechanical ventilation. ARDS can make it hard for patients to breathe and can lead to serious complications. One common treatment is placing patients in a "prone position," where they lie on their stomachs. This position can help improve breathing but may also cause pressure on the chest and abdomen, leading to discomfort and pressure sores. Researchers want to see if using an inflatable air bag can help reduce this pressure while improving lung function, making it easier for patients to breathe and reducing the risk of skin problems.
To participate in this trial, patients must be over 18 years old, diagnosed with ARDS, and on mechanical ventilation with a specific level of breathing difficulty. They should be admitted to the medical ICU in Amiens and able to give consent (or have a family member provide consent if they are not conscious). Participants can expect to either receive standard care or the new inflatable air bag intervention during their treatment. The trial is still recruiting participants, and it aims to find a safer and more comfortable way to help ARDS patients breathe better while reducing potential complications.
