ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating the effects of Schema Therapy (ST) on patients with personality disorders (PDs) in outpatient forensic mental health settings. The goal is to see if this therapy can help reduce the risk of reoffending and improve patients' overall mental health. The study will look at how patients' thought patterns change, whether they become less likely to commit crimes again, and if a specific way of measuring personality functioning can help track their progress throughout the treatment.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be diagnosed with a personality disorder and agree to receive Schema Therapy. They should be willing to give their consent to join the study. However, people with certain conditions, such as low IQ, current severe mental health issues like psychosis or bipolar disorder, or those who are sex offenders, will not be eligible. This study is unique because it focuses on outpatient care, meaning that patients will not be required to stay in a hospital but will receive treatment while living in the community.
