ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new training program designed to help reduce falls among older adults. The program combines physical exercises with mental tasks, known as dual-task training. Researchers believe that this approach can be an effective way to prevent falls, especially since many current fall prevention strategies in Hong Kong do not include mental training. The goal is to find a cost-effective solution that can lower healthcare costs and help older adults stay safe and independent.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an older adult living in the community who has had at least one fall in the last six months. You should be able to walk, with or without a walking aid, and have a good understanding of your surroundings, as indicated by a mental assessment score of 24 or higher. However, individuals with dementia, a history of serious mental health issues, or severe vision problems that affect their ability to exercise cannot join. If you are eligible, you can expect to take part in training sessions that will help improve your balance and coordination, ultimately aiming to reduce the risk of future falls.
