ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new surgical approach to treat periodontal disease, which is a serious gum infection that can lead to tooth loss. The researchers want to see if a single cut made in the middle of the gum can help preserve important tissue that promotes healing. They will compare this new method to a standard technique used in gum surgery, with each method being tested on 25 participants who have advanced gum disease.
To be part of this study, participants should be between 65 and 74 years old and have serious gum disease that hasn’t improved after standard treatment. They should also have specific deep gum pockets that need attention. During the study, participants will have their gum health checked before surgery and again after 12 months to see how well the treatments work. This trial is currently looking for volunteers, and it’s important for anyone considering participation to discuss their health history with the research team to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements.
