ClinConnect Summary
The HEALTHYADOL trial is studying how exercise and lifestyle changes can help adolescents with cancer during their treatment. Specifically, the researchers want to see if a program that includes physical exercise, healthy eating guidance, and psychological support can improve health outcomes for young people aged 12 to 19 who have just been diagnosed with a type of cancer. Participants will be recruited from hospitals in Madrid, Spain, and must be newly diagnosed with a malignant tumor, have not started any treatment other than surgery, and be in good enough health to participate.
In this study, participants will be divided into two groups. One group will receive the usual care and be informed about healthy lifestyle benefits, while the other group will follow a special program that includes exercise sessions in the hospital gym and counseling on diet and mental health. Throughout the trial, which lasts about 5 to 6 months, the researchers will track various health measures, such as heart function, blood pressure, and even mental well-being, to see how these interventions help young patients cope with their cancer treatment. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and if you or someone you know fits the eligibility criteria, it could be a valuable opportunity to receive additional support during a challenging time.
