ClinConnect Summary
The Robotic Bariatric Database (RBD) Collaborative is an observational research project that collects and stores medical information from people who had robotic bariatric (weight‑loss) surgery. The goal is to learn from real-world data about how these surgeries work over time so doctors can improve care. It looks at historical records from 2018 to 2019 and is led by Methodist Health System in Dallas, Texas. This is not a trial of a new treatment, and no results are published yet.
People eligible are adults between 18 and 100 years old who were eligible for or had robotic bariatric surgery between January 2018 and December 2019. The study uses existing medical records, and no new procedures are required for participants. If you’re invited to participate, your de-identified data may be included to help researchers understand outcomes after robotic bariatric surgery; no individual patient data will be shared publicly, and the project is overseen by the sponsor, Methodist Health System.
