ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the pharyngoesophageal segment (PES), which helps create a new voice after larynx removal (laryngectomy), vibrates and works together with sound production in patients who have undergone this surgery due to larynx cancer. The researchers want to understand the relationship between the visual movements of the PES and the sounds produced, as this could help improve voice rehabilitation for patients.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be laryngectomized patients who have been free of disease for at least six months after their surgery and any additional treatments like radiation or chemotherapy. They should also be able to read and attend follow-up visits regularly. Patients who are under 18, have respiratory infections, or other specific health conditions will not be included. Participants can expect to undergo high-speed video examinations to analyze how their PES vibrates while speaking, which may provide valuable insights into better voice rehabilitation techniques in the future.
