ClinConnect Summary
The Fontan-Sprechstunde clinical trial is studying the long-term health of children and young adults who have undergone Fontan surgery for a specific type of heart condition called univentricular heart. Although these surgeries generally have a good success rate, some patients may face complications over time, such as protein loss, which can lead to issues like diarrhea and swelling, as well as liver problems and heart issues. The goal of this study is to gather information about these complications and understand what factors might affect the health outcomes of these patients in the long run.
If you have a congenital heart defect that has resulted in Fontan circulation, you might be eligible to participate in this study. There are no specific exclusions based on age or gender, so anyone fitting the criteria can join. Participants can expect to share their health information in a structured way, which will help researchers track and analyze the long-term effects of the Fontan procedure. This study aims to improve care for future patients by learning from the experiences of those involved.
