ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring whether a ketogenic diet can help patients with high-grade gliomas, a type of brain cancer, and those with brain metastases from other cancers. The ketogenic diet is low in carbohydrates and focuses on fats, which may help improve survival by changing how the body uses energy. Researchers believe that this diet could work alongside traditional treatments like surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy to extend the lives of patients.
To participate in the trial, individuals must be between 18 and 80 years old and have been recently diagnosed with a specific type of brain cancer called glioblastoma grade 4. Participants should have a good level of physical functioning and normal liver and kidney function. However, those with diabetes, certain metabolic disorders, or who cannot follow the diet will not be eligible. If someone joins the study, they can expect to follow the ketogenic diet while being closely monitored by the research team to see how it affects their overall health and cancer treatment.
