ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how "medical play," which involves using toys and role-playing to help children understand what will happen during a dental visit, can improve cooperation and behavior in neurotypical children aged 5 to 10. The goal is to see if children who participate in medical play before their dental exams behave better and feel less anxious compared to those who don't. The trial will also gather feedback from dental providers, parents, and the children themselves about their experiences and feelings during these visits.
To be eligible for the study, children must be between 5 and 10 years old, be considered neurotypical (meaning they do not have autism or other neurological conditions), and have had previous dental visits at the Children's Hospital Colorado Dental Center. Caregivers must be the child's legal guardians. Participants can expect a supportive environment where they will be involved in fun activities that help them prepare for their dental exam. This study is currently recruiting, and it aims to better understand how to make dental visits more positive for kids.
