ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether a specific surgery called lateral pharyngoplasty, when done alongside a common procedure called tonsillectomy, can help children feel better after surgery compared to just having tonsillectomy alone. The researchers want to find out if kids experience less pain, eat and drink more comfortably, and have fewer bleeding problems when they have both surgeries together. Parents of the children participating in the study will help by keeping track of their child’s pain levels, how much they eat and drink, and any complications that might occur after surgery.
Children aged 3 to 17 years who are planning to have a tonsillectomy (and possibly adenoid removal) at Loma Linda University Health may be eligible to join the study. However, children with certain conditions, like congenital syndromes, developmental delays, or cancer, won't be able to participate. If your child takes part in this study, you can expect to share information about their recovery experience, which will help researchers understand how to improve care for children undergoing these surgeries in the future.
