ClinConnect Summary
The TRAC-ER trial is studying a new way to help young sexual minority males and transgender individuals reduce risky alcohol use and the behaviors associated with it. This study uses a mobile app that tracks when participants visit places where they might be tempted to drink. When they arrive at these locations, the app sends them helpful messages to remind them of strategies discussed in earlier sessions to avoid risky drinking. After leaving, participants will answer a survey about their activities and take a breathalyzer test to measure their alcohol level. If they have consumed alcohol, they will receive additional guidance on how to stay safe.
To participate in this study, you need to be between 18 and 35 years old, identify as a sexual minority male or a transgender/non-binary individual, own a smartphone, and have not been diagnosed with HIV. You should also have a history of at-risk drinking. If you are interested, the study is actively recruiting participants. This trial aims to provide support in real-time to help individuals make safer choices regarding alcohol use and provide valuable data on drinking behaviors.
