ClinConnect Summary

The R-CITY Project is a study aimed at helping students and teachers work together to create safer and more supportive classrooms. This project focuses on teaching important skills related to equity—understanding fairness and inclusivity—while also promoting social and emotional learning (SEL). Specifically, it looks at how well combining these equity lessons with an existing SEL program called "Second Step" helps students and teachers build stronger relationships and resilience. The study will compare schools using both the SEL curriculum and the equity lessons to those using just the SEL curriculum to see which approach works better.

To participate in this trial, teachers who teach core subjects like Math, Science, Social Studies, or English in elementary and middle schools may be eligible. If chosen, teachers will receive training on how to deliver these new lessons alongside the existing SEL content. The goal is to create a positive learning environment where all students feel safe and supported. This study is currently recruiting participants, and everyone involved will contribute to improving how schools address issues of violence and support student well-being.
