ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is testing a new type of food called microbiome-directed food (MDF) to help treat acute malnutrition in children aged 6 to 23 months. The main goal is to find out if this new food can help children recover from malnutrition better than the standard treatments they currently receive. Specifically, the researchers want to see if children eating MDF will recover faster and stay healthy longer compared to those receiving other types of ready-to-use foods designed for malnutrition.
To participate in this trial, children must be between 6 and 23 months old and have either moderate or severe malnutrition. Some signs of malnutrition include being underweight for their age or having a lower arm circumference than normal. However, children with certain health issues or allergies will not be eligible for this study. Families who join the trial can expect their child to receive the new food for treatment and be monitored for their progress. This study is important as it aims to improve recovery rates for children suffering from malnutrition, which is a significant health concern in many communities.
