ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how a treatment with lactobacilli, which are good bacteria, affects the bacteria in the urine, vagina, and feces of postmenopausal women. The researchers want to find out if this treatment can change the bacterial composition in urine and if it helps prevent repeated bladder infections, known as cystitis. Women who have experienced recurrent cystitis will participate in the study and will be monitored for six months. They will receive either a placebo (a look-alike substance with no active ingredients) or lactobacilli tablets, with a switch after three months, so everyone gets to try both treatments.
To be eligible, participants must be postmenopausal women, aged 60 or older if they had a hysterectomy, and have a confirmed diagnosis of recurrent cystitis. Throughout the study, participants will visit the hospital every 1.5 months to provide samples and answer health-related questions. This research aims to better understand the role of good bacteria in the body and how they might help with recurrent bladder infections.
