ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach to a surgery called percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL), which is used to remove kidney stones. Traditionally, this surgery requires inserting a tube (called a ureteral catheter) through the urinary tract in a certain position, which can sometimes lead to complications like damage or scarring in the ureters. In this trial, the procedure is being performed in a different position without using the ureteral catheter, with the hope of reducing these risks and making recovery easier for patients.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and have stones in the upper part of your urinary tract that require PCNL surgery. However, some people may not be eligible, such as those with kidney infections, certain serious health conditions, or those who have had previous kidney surgeries on the same side. If you join the study, you'll receive the surgery without the usual catheter placement, and researchers will monitor your recovery and any effects this new method might have. Your participation could help improve kidney stone surgery for future patients!
