ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at whether music therapy can help reduce the need for medication that sedates patients on ventilators in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The study will involve 100 adult patients who are receiving mechanical ventilation. Half of the participants will listen to music through headphones, chosen by a music therapist, for two hours a day over two days, while the other half will not listen to music. Researchers will monitor changes in patients' heart rate, blood pressure, and breathing, as well as how much sedation medication is needed.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be adults over 18 years old who are currently being treated in the ICU with a ventilator. Unfortunately, children and individuals who are deaf cannot participate. This study is currently recruiting patients, and everyone involved will have the chance to experience how music might influence their comfort and the overall need for sedation during their treatment.
