ClinConnect Summary
The BariaPSY study is looking into how mental health issues, like mood and anxiety disorders, affect people who are considering weight-loss surgery (bariatric surgery) due to obesity. Many individuals with obesity also struggle with these mental health conditions, which can make their overall health more complicated. This trial aims to create a system that helps doctors quickly identify specific mental health challenges faced by these patients. By doing so, the goal is to provide better support and tailored resources to improve their care before and after surgery.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be at least 18 years old, have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher, and be referred to the IUCPQ for help with their weight. Those who are under legal protection or not eligible for certain health coverage cannot join. Participants will undergo screenings to assess their mental health, which will help doctors understand their needs better. This research is important because it seeks to improve the overall health and well-being of people with obesity who are preparing for surgery.
