ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the rate at which fluids are given during surgery affects the flow of blood in small blood vessels, known as microcirculation. The goal is to find out if the current practice of giving fluids is the best way to ensure that tissues get enough oxygen during surgery. The researchers are particularly interested in understanding how fluid therapy might help manage bleeding and improve recovery after surgery.
To participate in the trial, you must be an adult aged 65 to 74 who is scheduled for certain types of elective surgeries, like laparoscopic procedures, and be able to provide informed consent. However, if you expect to lose more than 250 ml of blood during surgery or have serious heart issues that require medication to stabilize your blood pressure, you won't be eligible. Participants will receive standard care and may have their fluid infusion rates carefully monitored throughout the surgery. This study aims to improve postoperative outcomes by better understanding how fluids affect blood flow during surgery, which is important for faster recovery.
