ClinConnect Summary
The 1MoreStep trial is designed to help Black women living with HIV who have experienced intimate partner violence in the past two years. This study tests a special program that includes five sessions focused on building skills to improve their health care engagement and personal safety. Participants will learn about finding support, understanding important concepts like "Undetectable = Untransmittable" (which means that if someone’s HIV is undetectable, they cannot transmit the virus to others), and how to communicate effectively about their experiences. The goal is to empower these women to take charge of their health and safety while reducing the stigma associated with HIV and domestic violence.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be Black or African American, at least 18 years old, and living with HIV. They should have had limited contact with HIV care in the last year or face challenges in managing their health. Additionally, they need to have experienced intimate partner violence in the past two years and be able to attend the sessions in person. Participants can expect to gain valuable skills and support, and the study will assess how helpful and workable the program is for them. This research aims to make a real difference in the lives of these women by providing them with tools to navigate their health and personal challenges.
