ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new approach called a "safety plan" for people who have recently attempted suicide. The goal is to see if this plan, which is created by emergency department nurses when patients are discharged, can help reduce the chances of someone making another suicide attempt within the next six months. The trial will compare the results of patients who receive this safety plan with those who only receive standard care. Researchers hope that by providing additional support and guidance right after a suicide attempt, they can lower the risk of future attempts and improve overall well-being.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be 18 years or older, have visited an emergency department for a suicide attempt within the last 48 hours, and agree to follow the safety plan as part of the Vigilans program. They also need to be fluent in French and have health insurance coverage. Participants can expect to receive personalized support and follow-ups to help them manage their mental health. It’s important to know that those who are hospitalized for more than 24 hours or do not want to participate in the study will not be included. This trial aims to find effective ways to keep individuals safe and promote recovery after a crisis.
