ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how different methods of breathing support affect the need for tube placement (intubation) in premature babies born before 30 weeks of pregnancy. The researchers want to find out if using bi-nasal prongs (a type of nasal support) instead of a face mask can reduce the need for intubation. Since many premature infants require help with breathing at birth, it's important to find the best way to support them while minimizing potential complications, like lung problems.

To participate in this trial, infants must be born at OSF SFMC and need help with breathing but cannot have certain serious conditions, like congenital diaphragmatic hernia. If eligible, participants can expect to receive one of the different support methods during their initial care, and the research team will monitor how well each method works in preventing the need for intubation. This study is currently looking for participants, and all babies, regardless of gender, who meet the criteria may be included.
