ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is comparing two types of surgery for treating acute appendicitis: laparoscopic appendectomy and open appendectomy. Both methods are commonly used and considered safe, but researchers want to find out which one is more beneficial and has fewer downsides for patients. The trial will help determine the best approach to perform this surgery.
To participate in the study, individuals need to be between 5 and 50 years old and must have been diagnosed with acute appendicitis. However, those who are pregnant, have a perforated appendix, are severely obese, or have had previous abdominal surgery are not eligible to join. Participants can expect to receive one of the two surgical treatments and will help contribute to important findings that could improve care for future patients with appendicitis. It’s worth noting that the study is not yet recruiting participants, so there will be more information available once it begins.
