ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how well patients with a condition called degenerative thoracolumbar deformity can move and function after having surgery to correct their spinal deformity. The researchers will use special tests to measure how patients move and how stable their spine is after surgery. They are looking for participants who are aged between 65 and 74 and have surgery scheduled with specific doctors at the Mayo Clinic.
To be eligible for this study, patients must have a diagnosed spinal deformity and be scheduled for a significant surgery that involves fusing at least four vertebrae and connecting to the pelvis. Unfortunately, those who cannot return to the Mayo Clinic for follow-up evaluations won’t be able to participate. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo motion analysis testing and wear devices that track your movements, helping the researchers understand how the surgery impacts your daily activities.
