ClinConnect Summary
This study tests whether using realistic simulation manikins helps Czech military medics-in-training learn to handle battlefield injuries more effectively than traditional training. In a randomized setup, participants are assigned to either conventional training or simulation-based training. Researchers will measure how quickly and how correctly they perform life-saving steps such as stopping severe bleeding (tourniquet use), keeping the airway open (nasal airway), and sealing chest wounds, with each task timed and scored, typically within a 10-minute window. They’ll also look at how the training affects stress responses during the practice.
Eligible participants are active soldiers taking the Tactical Combat Casualty Care course in the Czech Republic, of any sex, who are willing to participate. About 50 people are planned, and enrollment is ongoing. Participants will be assessed on their performance and on physiological stress markers (like blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol) about one hour after training. The trial is led by the Czech Technical University in Prague, and results are not yet available; data will be shared openly after final publication.
