ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to screen for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs), which are dangerous bulges in the main artery in the belly. The aim is to see if using portable ultrasound machines in general practitioners' (GPs) offices can help more people get screened, especially those who are most at risk. The trial focuses on men aged 65 to 75 who are current or former smokers, as well as younger men aged 50 to 75 who have a family history of AAAs.
Participants in the study can expect to have a quick and simple ultrasound test done either at their GP's office or even at home during a regular visit. This test is non-invasive, meaning it doesn't involve surgery or needles, and it only takes a short amount of time. The goal is to make it easier and more affordable for people to get screened, which could ultimately save lives by detecting AAAs before they become life-threatening. If you're a male within the age range and meet the smoking or family history criteria, you might be eligible to join this important study.
